The Encue app

• No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. Encue has no sign-in and no crash reporting, and it doesn’t phone home. Nothing about your library, your sets or how you use the app is sent to us. There is no Encue server and no Encue account, and no embedded web pages. Both apps are listed on the App Store as Data Not Collected.
• Nothing leaves your Mac unless you send it. The one exception is Share › Send to iPhone…: Encue writes the set as a single file and hands it to macOS’s own share sheet, so AirDrop can pass it to your phone. macOS does the sending, at your request, straight from one device to the other. Encue itself opens no connection for it, and we never see the file.
• One question to the App Store. At most once a day, each app asks Apple’s public App Store lookup whether a newer version of Encue is out, so it can tell you what’s new. The request carries only the app’s identifier (and your App Store country, so the answer is your store’s); nothing about you, your library or your sets. It goes to Apple, never to us. If there is no connection, nothing happens.
• Your library stays on your Mac. Encue reads the rekordbox collection XML you choose, or a folder of music you choose. It never writes to rekordbox and never changes your music files, and we never see your library, your tracks or your sets.
• It only opens what you allow. macOS keeps Encue in a sandbox, so it can read only the collection file, the music folders you pick and the folders you allow (including rekordbox’s analysis, for waveforms). It reads them and never changes them. It remembers your choices so it doesn’t ask again; Settings › Library › Forget Allowed Folders takes them back.
• The listening happens on your Mac. Tempo, beat grid, key, phrasing, cue points, energy and the sound-similarity model all run on your own machine. No cloud service and no AI service is involved, and no audio is uploaded anywhere.
• What it saves, on your Mac only: the sets you build, your settings, and its own analysis (such as detected keys and your beat-grid nudges). All of it lives in Encue’s own sandbox folder, ~/Library/Containers/com.encuedj.encue/, under Data/Library/Application Support/Encue/. Delete that folder and it’s gone.
• Exports are yours. When you export a set, Encue writes a rekordbox XML file to the place you pick, and nothing else.
• The only outbound link. The About window has a link to the maker’s SoundCloud page. Clicking it opens your own browser; the app itself still connects to nothing.

Encue on iPhone

Encue for iPhone plays back a set your Mac sent you. One purchase covers both apps. It has no account and no analytics either; its only request is the same once-a-day App Store version check.

• A set arrives only because you sent it. Your Mac packs the set into one file and AirDrops it; you accept it on the phone and open it with Encue. Nothing streams, and nothing is fetched.
• Every file is checked, not encrypted. Each track is fingerprinted with SHA-256 when the Mac packs it and checked again when it lands, so you know the set arrived whole. That is a check, not encryption, and nothing is sent anywhere as part of it.
• Where it lives. The music, waveforms and mix plans sit inside the app’s own storage, under Library/Application Support/EncueMobile/. They are not added to your Music library, your Photos or your Files browser. The app’s Documents folder is visible in Files only as the place incoming set files land, and those are deleted once the set is imported. Deleting a set in the app, or deleting the app, removes its files.
• iCloud Backup. Your tracks aren’t copied into iCloud Backup — a set is hundreds of megabytes and your Mac can always send it again. Each set’s small plan and verification files are included in normal backups, so a restored phone still lists its sets and tells you which ones to resend.
• The demo set. The app includes a demo set of original house tracks made for Encue. It is added to your phone only if you tap Try the demo set.

This website

The mailing list

When you join the mailing list we store:

• your email address;
• what you play on, if you choose to tell us;
• when you signed up, which form you used, the page you came from, and your browser’s user-agent string;
• a one-way hash of your IP address. We don’t store the address itself. The hash lets us stop the same person filling the list with repeated sign-ups. A short-lived counter based on the same hash expires after 10 minutes.

We use this only to email you about Encue: release notes and the occasional piece of news. We don’t sell it, share it or use it for advertising. When you sign up, a notification with your email address is sent to our inbox, so we know you’re there.

We keep your details until you ask us to remove them. To be removed, email support@encuedj.com from the address you signed up with.

Cookies and tracking

encuedj.com uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies. It doesn’t load anything from other companies: the fonts and the demo video are served from encuedj.com itself. WordPress only sets cookies if you log in to the site’s admin, which only the site owner does.

Who else handles the data

• GoDaddy hosts the website and its database, in the United States.
• Apple distributes the app. When you get Encue from the App Store, Apple handles it and tells us nothing about you beyond anonymous download and sales totals. We never see your name, your email or your payment details.
• Google (Gmail) hosts our inbox. Emails you send us, and sign-up notifications, arrive there.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop emailing you. Email support@encuedj.com and we’ll do it within 30 days. You’ve given us your email by consent, so you can withdraw that consent whenever you like. If you’re in the EU or UK and aren’t happy with how we handled a request, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Encue and this website are not aimed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. If the change affects how we use your email, we’ll tell you before it takes effect.
